Working For The Man!

Worldwide Eproducts Monthly Newsletter, April 2009

In this month's newsletter:
  • Get a haircut and get a real job!
  • Product of the month
  • Rebekah's quote on quote
  • A positive side to "Twitter".
Hi everyone. Welcome to all the newcomers this month and thanks to regular readers for returning.

I spent much of the last month travelling around my home state, having a bit of a holiday and doing some work along the way. Work is the theme of this months newsletter and I am curious to hear your take on the topic.

Having been travelling, relaxing and scoffing the usual Easter menu of Chocky eggs and hot cross buns for the last few weeks, I have to say I'm pretty pleased with myself for having kept my weight stable throughout, reasonably anyway. I hope you all had the opportunity to enjoy and appreciate Easter and hopefully connect with the authentic Easter celebration of new life in Christ.

Get A Haircut and Get A Real Job

The above heading from the lyrics of the song by George Thorogood, express a mode of thinking that many of us have drummed into us throughout our lives. The idea that the "right job" is the measure of and ticket to success is ingrained in us, many times by family and most definitely by many education systems.

My own experience is the assumption that I would work in a job until the usual age somewhere around the 60's. It has only been inside of the last 5 years that my thinking has shifted to accommodate the possibility of earning sufficient "non-job" income to shortcut the whole "lifetime in a job" scenario. In fact in the last 9 months I have had my first taste of being "purposefully unemployed" as I ceased my most recent job to undertake some projects of my own.

So what has it been like?

I'd be lying if I said there weren't some major benefits. Here are just a few:

being more active in home duties (surprisingly satisfying),

opportunity to respond to others in immediate crisis

ability to catch up with my wife throughout the day,

more time to continue education,

available time for considering and catering to personal responsibilities

ability to build/contribute to strategic relationships.

I understand also the attraction of sleeping in late, but for me it doesn't work. I wake up. I get up.

So are there any drawbacks? Certainly for me there has been some challenges and I realise these may differ according to your individual makeup. I knew long before ceasing my J.O.B. that removing the external discipline of having a job would expose any weakness in my capacity to discipline myself. My motivation in ending paid employment in a job also caused me to examine my relationship to authority, not entirely favorably.

Basically, a job can provide helpful structures and relationships that can help an individual achieve and be accountable toward positive outcomes. I am currently looking at being re-employed, sacrificing some of the freedom I have enjoyed, for some of the positives that go with having a job.

All of this of course depends on a persons make-up and season in life. There isn't a hard and fast rule here, but it is helpful to examine and try and understand our own actions and motivations to ensure we continue to grow, and not just grow old.

Monthly Product Review

Having already confessed to assuming more of an active role with tasks around the home, my favorite of the domestic duties is and has always been, cooking. And so it has been with great interest I have scoured our available cook books.

We have a number of recipe books available, covering different styles of cooking and some specific interests like desserts and cookies.

I have included a link to the recipe for risotto
This can be found in our book, "Culinary Delights - 200 Masterpiece Recipes"

Follow the link to either the risotto recipe or an overview of the whole book by clicking on the highlighted words above.

Also from this particular book I have successfully pulled apart the recipe for spinach and ricotta agnolotti to make up my own spinach and ricotta puffs. Very Tasty!

Rebekah's quote on quote.

"Whether you think you can or you can't, you're right"

Henry Ford

Now, read that aloud to yourself one more time. Interesting, isn't it.
Because it almost doesn't seem to make sense....Oh, but it does.

The amazing power of thought, of our minds...scary! If you think you can, then you can and you will. Whereas if you think you can't then you can't and you never will.

This in particular can be a hard one for me. I tend to be a glass half empty girl and sometimes I think I almost like dwelling in the negative. Possibly I feel I will avoid disappointment this way. But I am trying to retrain my way of thinking towards more positive and happy thoughts.

Whether it's looking at a situation or working on your goals, thinking positive and that it is all possible, will actually work, every time. Even if things, people, places ETC don't turn out exactly as we had hoped they would, you learn to find the silver lining and keep trying for what you want and more importantly what you deserve. And what do you deserve? What makes you happy?

Lastly, I would like to give a quick shout out to Henry Ford. Can you imagine what his friends and family said when he told them he wanted to put his skills and knowledge into a horseless carriage? A black box shaped object, later to be called a model "T" Ford, which people can sit in and attach a motor to it so they can zoom around town? It worked because first Henry wanted it to work then he THOUGHT it would.

To Tweet or Not To Tweet?

That is the question !

Like a gazillion other people, I have joined the growing Twitter social networking phenomenon in the quest to increase my online profile and hopefully, my scope of influence.

While doing so I sometimes have questions about its value and the extent of my involvement and exposure there, but in this last week I witnessed a very positive side to Twitter.

I had wanted to pray for someone in need but, as sometimes happens, it had slipped my mind. While checking Twitter, someone else made a request for prayer, which jogged my memory. I prayed and then took the opportunity to thank the person, who's message had prompted me. It didn't stop there. They then sent out another request to their followers on my behalf and others did likewise.

So from one absent minded person, an impromptu, global prayer network formed to add to my own individual prayer. Wow, now that is a positive.

So while I may still have some reservations about social networking of the likes of Twitter, I've decided to focus on the potential pluses and not the pitfalls. Probably an attitude that could translate well into other areas of life also.

Thanks so much for dropping in this month. I hope you have found even just one thing of value to take with you. Whatever the case, feel free to comment and remember, Be blessed!

Providence, "THE " Secret to My Success

Worldwide Eproducts March Newsletter, 2009

Hello again and thanks for coming back. I hope all is well.
The first quarter of the year is just about done and dusted and I can only imagine how quickly we will hit the half way mark. Probably in about three months I guess.

Has anyone else noticed that easter eggs have been in the shops already for about two months. Those things have got to be stale by the time we get them, but who really cares? Certainlly not me. I look forward each year to the egg hunt we have. I thought the novelty would have worn off with our adult kids by now, but apparently they are just as childish as their parents.

Enjoy your read!

Credit Where Credit is Due

My Websters dictionary defines providence as: "The care and supervision of God over His creatures", and, "Something due to an act of providential intervention".

I really like this word and its meaning because it very much describes my own experience.

This portion of the monthly newsletter is to share lessons I have been learning and insights gained. By giving you glimpses into my world I hope to inspire confidence in you for your own endeavours. Let's face it, I am not a superstar anything, so if I can achieve a level of success, then my example leaves the door wide open for any other non superstars out there to achieve their goals also.

As I make progress it is always imperfectly. I can normally find the wrong way to do something before I find the right way, Sometimes with hilarious results, sometimes just plain scary. I hope that you will laugh or cringe along with me and find hope and encouragement for yourself in the process.

And so, coming back to "providence". Here lies the very foundation of the incredible quality of life that I enjoy. In fact this truth, more than being just a foundation, is infused in everything I do, in every moment of every day. My life, in good times and bad, is the result of the constant and intentional involvement of a powerfully present God who is for me.

Any strategies, principals or lessons I have to share are of varying degrees of importance, but always, supplementary to, and mere expressions of the blessing and favour of a living God.

This article may be surprising or even confronting to some, but it is only right to give fair acknowledgement to the source of my help. To be honest, no message I could write on the subject of personal success, could be more important and relevant than this one. Have fun and be blessed.

Monthly Product Review

I must confess to being more than just a little uncomfortable reviewing this month's book, "Getting Rid of Stretch Marks". I've chosen to do it though, because my research has made me realise the level of anxiety experienced by those suffering from stretch marks. Normally associated with pregnancy, they can also be the result of obesity and rapid growth spurts.

I would really like to be able to say to anyone suffering from stretch marks, "Forget about them because your value is not reduced by your stretch marks". I know however that while that is true, it is cold comfort to sufferers.

And so our book "Getting Rid of Stretch Marks" offers a whole arsenal of weapons in the battle against stretch marks. I had thought that external cremes or expensive surgery would be the only answer. Our book reviews a number of off-the-shelf cremes and also some home made remedies including how to make and use them.

You will also discover, how diet and nutrition play a part in stretch mark severity through overall body health, and see how stress management is vital to combat stretch marks.

From the introduction you will gain an understanding of what stretch marks are and why they occur and then begin to find the best ways for you to combat them, including specific exercises.

The main thing I have learned so far, is that stretch marks are a lot easier to prevent than get rid of . If you are considering pregnancy or think you may be susceptible to stretch marks then let me encourage you to take steps to head them off before they become a problem.

You may not be able to completely avoid or get rid of stretch marks, but you can certainly diminsh their impact on your body and body image.

Rebekah's Quote on Quote

"Action is the foundational key to all success". Pablo Picasso

Yes, this one is a hard one, not to grasp…but, to find the motivation to action. This is another nice yet somewhat guilt-filled reminder to get up and do something…but I can’t be bothered to even finish this sentence...

Truth is, if we ever hope of getting anywhere or doing anything, we have start somewhere and start something, simple as that. It’s not always easy and we may fail or end up somewhere unfamiliar but we will hardly get the most out of life, love, success, adventure (the list could go on forever) by sitting on our behinds wishing we were the people in the magazines or on the TV. Isn’t that right?

Action or ‘do something’ really is the first and most crucial step in success. It’s the hardest step but also has an awesome snowball effect. Action is the foundation to which we can build on and other s can help build on too!

So, now that I think we all understand…what are you still doing staring at a computer screen?

The Other Book Review

From time to time I thought I would include some comments about books I have read, because many of these have shaped my thinking in important ways. I enjoy novels but don't seem to make time for them. What I do spend time reading are biographies and books that inform and challenge particular areas of thinking and personal interest.

It was several years ago now that I read the biography of Captain James Cook, by Richard Hough. This explorer, from the age of sail, has played a large part in the history of my home country of Australia. It was by no means the most entertaining or inspiring of books I have read but it opened my eyes to the magnitude of Cook's achievements. Most of us can probably imagine a high degree of hardship on board those ships, but I never appreciated the level of maintenance required enroute just to stay afloat. Carpenters had to work continually to repair new damage and deterioration to their vessels. Their survival is truly remarkable.

I recall this particular book now because it was the original prompter for me to further investigate the meaning of the word "providence", used by Cook in his journals. A word I now hold to have a rich meaning. Interestingly, the book also compares the circumstances of Cook's arrival in Hawaii to the details of a local legend, extraordinary.

The Other, Other Book review

Nah, just kidding. That's it until next month. See you then, and remember, be blessed!

Worldwide Eproducts Newsletter, February 2009

Welcome to February's Newsletter.

With February already well under way, that sensation of time speeding up year by year seems to be continuing. It is nice though to be back to AFL footy pre-season again. Maybe this year will yield that elusive second premiership for my much loved St Kilda Saints!

We have a new product released this month which we will review as you read on.
Most exciting this month is the start of the ongoing contribution from Rebekah Bolt. A gifted writer, Rebekah will be adding a quote and then her own comments each month. The quotes may be well known or obscure, but never dull. Hope you enjoy.

The Never Ending Highway of Learning

If you read last months newsletter you would have been treated to the news of how poor a student I am. Continuing on, I had a comic reminder during the month of how important it is to make learning a continual process.

A friend of mine recently purchased and started using their very first electric tooth brush. A few days passed before I thought to ask them what they thought of it. They were quite obviously impressed and said that despite them still working on their new brushing technique, all was well and that their teeth felt great and were visibly whiter. Great advertisement I thought, and noticed a small smile crease their mouth.

After a little prodding they confessed to what I guess would best be described as some "teething problems". On lifting their brush from its charger the first couple of mornings, the brush dutifully burst into life. Great! But wait. How to put the toothpaste on. I can only imagine the concerted efforts required and the subsequent waste of toothpaste, not to mention the resultant mess, before eventually realising that the little dimple on the front of the brush was an on/off switch. Problem solved.

And so it seems that even for the most basic of daily life we keep learning. Sometimes the lessons are thrust unwittingly upon us by circumstance or others. Sometimes we can recognise a lack and deliberately seek out what we need. I've noticed that people who achieve their goals continually train, learn and feed their interests. I sometimes need encouragement to do likewise, and so let me take a moment to encourage you to continue to glean the info and wisdom that you need.

Grappling with the truth, a new job or relationship or even a new appliance........the learning never stops!

Rebekah's Quote on Quote

"Imagination is more important than knowledge" Albert Einstein

The one man, who even today we consider to be one of the greatest genius’ to have ever walked the earth. And yet he will give a belittling statement such as this, suggesting that fairytales of the mind could possibly be more important that any lesson of logic, true and fair!

I recently watched a documentary on the ‘String Theory’ in which Albert Einstein was featured. What fascinated me most about Einstein was not his intelligence. Anyone can study and learn, some may take longer than others, but we all have the mind of a sponge.

I believe the key to Einstein’s success was his imagination. He wouldn’t just think or dream of a ‘far-out’ idea but he would turn it into a reality and if it didn’t work, he would think and dream ‘far-out’ again.

This principle really relates to all of us. Think it, dream it and it will be.

Monthly Product Review

Unless you have been somewhere other than earth in recent times, you would be aware of the global financial diificulties dominating much of our news services and even conversation of late. Our new downloadable book "Eliminating debt - Simply Living Debt Free" is perfectly timed and represents a great tool to help reduce debt.

It focuses on helping readers to paint a big and complete picture for their life and evaluate their actions accordingly. So much more than a budgeting book, of which there our many good ones already available, this book helps you ask lots of juicy questions about your life.

The plan that our new ebook helps you to build will help you to map out a course away from "debt-town" and toward the future of your design and choosing. It is a very exciting read that will greatly reward those who do the work it lays out.

Annual Goalsetting

I'm guessing that if you are in the habit of setting goals you have already well and truly got them mapped out for the year ahead. My wife and I normally set aside some time around August/September to review and set our goals for the coming year. We try and get away and have as much fun as possible. We actually only started doing this since 2005, but have seen massive benefits already.

What are your goal setting strategies and stories?

Until next month, have fun and keep learning

Newsletter, January 2009

Hi Everybody,

Welcome back to our regulars and greetings to all newcomers this month. I trust we all survived the holiday season. My immediate family travelled interstate this Christmas. It was the first time my wife and I have done this with our adult kids. We were pleasantly surprised to think they wanted to. There was lots of laughter and incriminating photos.

In the midst of all the frivolity we also had the chance to visit a family member who's health had rapidly deteriorated. It was a wondeful time of opportunity hidden in our holiday agenda. She has since passed away and I am grateful for, and immensely encouraged by the small window of conversation and prayer we had in that final visit.
And so we all face a new year, seeded with sometimes hidden or seemingly insignificant opportunity. Now if I can only get the hang of writing 2009, I intend to make the most of it. How about you?

Learning From Others

I've come to the conclusion that I'm not a very good student. I know I can and should learn from others. I know I really need to learn from others. I actually really want to learn from others, I just don't seem to be very good at it.

For example, I get great support and pretty much step by step procedures to follow while establishing Worldwide Eproducts as a valued online publisher, but somehow I still find myself going off on unfruitful tangents at times. I even sometimes take the attitude with God, "take the day off, I've got this covered, I know what I'm doing"...... Oh the shame.

I get excellent coaching and daily information for my stock market strategies, but still some days I say to myself "Nah, I think I'll do this or that instead". The list goes on and on and I don't like the pattern I see, ......but I have a plan.

Step 1. Take a deep breath.

Step 2. Seek out and put myself in situations and relationships to give me practice, and make better use of the existing opportunities.

Step 3. Be transparent about this weakness and any others I may have (sure there aren't too many....... right!). The effort required to do that will help me in my progress and will help anyone that happens to be watching who can also relate.

So, I hope you return and perhaps learn yourself, from my own examples that are sometimes positive and sometimes negative as I continue learning and succeeding.

6 Major Benefits of Hydroponic Gardening

Wthout doubt, our stand out book this month has been our downloadable ebook "Growing Without Soil - The Hydroponic Garden". It provides a great overview of the beneifts and components of home hydroponic gardening and goes on with a step by step guide to get you started at home with no experience, even indoors.

Following is an excerpt from our popular book that lists 6 of the major benefits of growing your own, hydroponically!

"SIZE

Nothing can ruin plans for a bountiful garden quicker than a lack of space.
There are millions of frustrated apartment dwellers that would love to have
a garden, but don’t even bother thumbing through seed catalogs because
they cannot manage to make a garden fit with their living environments.
Hydroponic gardening is great because it allows us to avoid those concerns.
Even those of us living in relatively small spaces can grow fresh fruits,
vegetables and herbs without worrying about the size of our lawn.
Plants can be grown in containers in even the smallest of spaces. One can
even successfully convert a linen closet into a garden with the right
hydroponic know-how and a specialty light.

CLIMATE

In addition to saving space, hydroponics also allows gardeners to escape
one of the most frequent causes of garden failure--weather. You can grow
the plants of your choice indoors due to the space saving, this allows you
to skirt problems like early freezes, torrential downpours and other
weather-related aggravations.

CONTROL

Hydroponics also provides a degree of control that is lacking from
traditional gardening strategies.
Although soil preparation does allow one to control the nature of the
garden somewhat, pinpoint control with soil is not possible. That is not the case with the hydroponic garden. When soil is out of the
picture, one can directly and easily control the nutrient intake of plants,
allowing for maximum efficiency and incredible results.
Why arduously tinker with the pH balance of soil, finally getting it just right
only to throw it completely out of whack by adding a bag of fertilizer?
When instead, you could make sure your growing conditions are optimal
with hydroponics.

GROWTH

The efficiency of the hydroponic approach is not limited to the ways it
makes life easier for the grower. The plants themselves catch a break.
The roots of hydroponically grown plants do not have to engage in an
endless struggle through soil in pursuit of sufficient nutrition. That saves a
great deal of energy for the plant, allowing it to focus on its actual growth
instead of survival.
Those pampered plants produce larger blooms and more produce than
their soil-bound brethren!

CONSERVATION

There’s another advantage to hydroponics that does not even seem
possible. You can actually conserve water by switching to a liquid garden.
How?
Most Hydroponic gardens are designed to re-circulate only the water the
plant needs. The small containers usually used in these systems often hold
less water than a traditional gardener may use on a single plant on a single
day. In addition, when you consider the amount of water waste due to
over saturation, evaporation and other issues endemic to traditional
gardening, you can begin to see why going with a hydroponic methodology
defiantly encourages water conservations.
Many hydroponic systems use what is known as an “Ebb and Flow” system.
This system uses the same water in a cycling manner, limiting the amount
of water being used to an even greater extent.
This is not only great for gardeners, but it is also beneficial to the
environment. Conserving water should be a priority of all people, and
saving water while growing organic and nutritious foods is an advantage all
growers should seek.
Along with water conservation, there are additional environmental benefits.
Hydroponics prevents the depletion of valuable nutrients and minerals in
soil. The efficiency of the hydroponic approach allows us to get more food
with less expenditure of natural resources.
Many scientists consider hydroponics huge part of the potential solutions
needed for meeting the growing demands for food in our hungry world.
Hydroponics provides a realistic and tangible option in areas where poor
soil, limited resources and climate difficulties make traditional gardening
and planting difficult.

NUTRITION

Oh, and the food grown hydroponically do not just come out bigger and
tastier. It is more nutritious, as well. When hydroponic gardeners grow
their vegetables with just the right mix of nutrients, it translates not only
into bigger fruits and vegetables, but also into ones that pack more
vitamins and minerals into every bite.
When one begins to consider the long list of advantages associated with
hydroponic gardening, it becomes clear that thinking past soil makes
perfect sense."

All those benefits and it is so easy to get started. Click Here if you would like to know more.

Out With the Old and in With the New.

If you are like me, Christmas seems so long ago. We are half way through January and quite frankly 2008 is just, well it's just so last year.

In moving forward into a new year, venture, relationship, anything for that matter I often find it helpful to pause and check over my shoulder. Having a quick review of the past sometimes helps me get my bearings for future directions. A bit like checking the rear vision mirror when driving. I probably don't do that often enough either.

That's why I like the fact we celebrate Christmas right on the brink of a new year. Remembering Jesus birth as I close out one year and prepare for another, helps me to remember where I've come from and to ensure my future reflects my values.

What are the things that help you stay true to your course? Leave a comment that might encourage another reader.

Until next month,

Be blessed!
